Hmmm. I'm not sure where you're hanging out but that doesn't describe the men I know. Men are easy going and don't ask for much. Take up golf.

You seem to have issues with your fellow mates, what's exactly is your problem here? Since you say you are a rare breed of man, then all you have got to do is pull yourself together and map out a strategy as to what type of men you need in your life as it appears you are mixing with the wrong type. I think it is you who should be selective and to quickly recognise when you are with the wrong bunch and make a French leave.

... Not always. We wanted them to "get in touch with their feminine sides" and this is what we've got for it. It's sad really because the bitchy, catty and hyper sensitive role was taken already. So, where does that leave a society that needs strong male role models?

How many of these men are engaged in interesting, fulfilling, worthwhile, "real" jobs. How many work in a truly relaxed, secure, un-harassed, workplace? How many feel secure in home, employment, and future prospects? How many are mortgage bound, consumers of goods, talking about work endlessly, 9 to 5 men? Must stop now - a strong catty feeling coming on!

I'd probably have to include myself in this I'm afraid! I do at least try and think of others though. Certainly it's a horrible trait in some of my friends, to the extent that I can't be bothered being mates with them anymore due to constant bitching.
I don't know, competitiveness has always been with us for better or worse but you can't imagine the wartime generation for example being so petty, self-obsessed and obnoxious!

Many men are. Its just that their lower voices make it less noticeable and/or offensive than women are that way.\
When its a man it comes out as "bitchy" seems "grouchy", "catty" is something they hide well and only share with those close to them, and "hypersensitve" comes out as "being a baby". They're everywhere.

No, more men have been raised by single mothers and so they have taken their lead from their main role models-MOM. This time it really is the parent's fault.

No - the feminization of men is a relatively recent phenomena. It is quite disturbing.
