I think you have to disable your firewall before restarting your computer then re-enable it once you've finished setting it up.

Yeah, is your windows firewall or whatever firewall that is installed that is blocking MSN from connecting to the internet. If u are part of a network, check your server computer for firewall and check the settings. First time signing in with Windows Live 8 does take a little long, dunno why but u will sign in. Agin check yur firewall. Laterz.

have a look on the control panel of your pc. see if your firewall has been off or on, probably there's something to do with that. I had that before but i forgot how did i fix it. I'm not too good on fixing computer but i'm good on experimenting them. good luck!
