Hahahahaha

To give you an idea of the difference in skills. When Venus was #1 she played the #80 guy in the world and lost. That tells you how Fed will beat Sharapova 6-0, 6-0.

P.S. In the battle of the sexes the guy was 40 and played with a handicap. Only got one serve (ie fault = double fault) A prime male athlete will beat a prime female athlete because of the difference in strength and speed.

Regarding looks, to be perfectly fair I shall abstain.

Regarding skill, even if we could erase the gender difference, Sharapova's game is not complete. Her movement can be exploited, and one can hardly call her net game a strength. Federer does it all. There may be one or two areas where she's slightly better, but in those head-to-head comparisons of the analysts, he'd get a strong majority of the checkmarks.

The most recent battle of the sexes that I can recall was sometime in the mid-to-late 90's when Martina Navratilova lost 6-2, 6-2 to Jimmy Connors with the handicap of Connors having only one serve and having to cover half the doubles alleys in addition to the singles court.

In 1973, Billie Jean King didn't even want to play Bobby Riggs, but felt that she needed to do so after he thrashed Margaret Court on Mother's Day. That year, King won Wimbledon, but Court won the Australian, French and US Opens. Riggs, a notorious hustler known for unusual handicaps, had made his fortune in 1939 when he bet on himself to win the singles, doubles and mixed doubles at Wimbledon (his mixed partner Alice Marble also won the women's singles and doubles). Court and King were in their final year of being 1-2 in the rankings; Riggs was well past his prime.

Sharapova without a doubt looks better.

When it comes to skill, i dont think she is better than Federer. I do, however, think that she could beat some of the pros on the mens side. Its hard to compare the mens and womens side. They play totally different games. If you look at statistics, The men play the game with strength and power (Roddick), while the women use alot of finese shots to win points (such as Martina Hingis).

Sharapova definatly is the best lookin tennis player out their damn she's hott!,its a tough question but i gotta give it to Fedderer he's the best there is since Connor's and McEnroe Sharapova is okay but shes a girl guys are usually more fit then ladies are no offense on the women's tennis players But Fedderer gets my vote because he's the best at all aspects of the game no doubt about that

Ok first, Maria is hotter than Fed anyday. And she's actually marketable, unlike Fed.
Second.
There used to be a saying that the Top 10 of womens tennis, would be equivalent to Top 100 of mens tennis. (Not that I endorse this statement completely, just what I heard)
Thing is.. the top 5 in men's are a head and body above that. So...NO where close.

In answer to the answer above, Billy Jean King vs Bobby Rigs, Bobby lost. Check it out here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Riggs#Battle_of_the_Sexes
*Keep in mind, this is not what tennis is like anymore.

Absolutely NOT. She would get swept in straight sets and lucky to win a game in either set. I would honestly say no female would compete with any of the top 5 or maybe the top 10 of males. Males are too strong and will overpower each female. Yeah, i may get some heat from females saying otherwise but thats my opinion, so dont bother sending me anything on this answer.

in terms of looks, maria is undoubtedly very pretty, but roger federer is not ugly at all..if both of them play a match,i am sure maria will only win only a couple of games coz roger is a gentleman.=p..with roger's placement of serve and his great skills, maria can only grunt after the ball passes her.lol...just joking.

I think they both look good but I think Maria win on the looks.

Now both are awesome tennis players, but I think Roger could beat Maria.
