Some of them, I'll agree, are cheesy and hokey.
Others are pretty good - I've given a few of my selections below:
Salaam Namaste is one of my faves.
Bunty Aur Babli was pretty good, as was Mohabbatein.
Omkara was excellent - very different from your typical Bollywood fare.
Being Cyrus, while done in English, is still considered a Bollywood film and is REALLY awesome. No cheesy song and dance routine - just pure acting and character driven plot and story lines.
Ek Hasini Thi is also not bad. Only one or two songs. Plot line SORT OF similar to Double Jeopardy, though with some significant differences.
And as if you couldn't tell from the majority of my movie selections, my favorite Hindi Actor is Saif Ali Khan, mainly because he is very selective about the roles he chooses - he'll play a handsome hero in one movie and a devious villain in the next. SUCH a versatile, talented actor - and incredibly sexy to boot!! :o)

I only like some. My Fave Bollywood actors/actresses are Sharukh Khan, John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan, Zayed Khan, and Preety Zinta. I like Aishwarya Rai alot also, but she isn't a very good actress. My fave Bollywood Film is "Salaam Namaste"
Alot of them are stupid and lame though, but I love how they add songs into all the movies. American movies should start doing that. I got really good at reading subtitles really fast. That's somewhat of a useful skill. JK. I do reccomend to give them one more chance. The Bollywood version of Man on fire was really good. Just as good as the America one.

I find them all very similar and find the music really grates on my nerves! I don't watch them if I can help it... Our local Asian restaurant plays them wall to wall when we go though!
