I have always celebrated Christmas with a Merry Christmas to all. Why all of a sudden is it offensive to others? They have thier own celebrations and we are supposed to respect and embrace them all...I say bull ----!

This just confirms how immigration has taken away our own traditions just to satisfy those other cultures that immigrate here, our country is going to hell in a hand basket, all I hear now a days is tolerance tolerance, since when dose immigrants have the right to change our laws and traditions to their satisfaction not ours, I believe immigrants that come to this country should be told obey our laws and traditions, and if you do not like them then go back where you come from that dam simple.

In the USA, Christmas has as much "meaning" as a secular holiday as it does a sacred one. I don't personally say "Merry Christmas" to strangers/store people/etc. until about a week before Christmas and then people are usually very understanding.

We ALL need to respect each other. So while we Christians can be a little more conscious that not everyone celebrates Christmas, people of other beliefs also can be conscious that there is nothing but goodwill meant in a cheerful "Merry Christmas."

Ohhh! It's probably somebody suffering from white guilt who has a grudge. Best way to hide your prejudice is to accuse somebody else. Maybe a few crazy people are jerks with saying "merry christmas" (cuz humans find a way to be a jerk about everything) AAAAND the ACLU, ADL, Boyscouts of America-who knows-the PC crowd got wind of it and rode to town with it. I swear the people in charge of those organizations have a Jihad against Christmas.
They don't seem to mind Obama lighting a 40ft Menorah on the White House front. But Nativity scenes are "offensive".
I mean seriously, you hear no complaints about separation of Synagogue and state. OOOOH I get it! The ADL and ACLU reads the constitution as saying "separation of CHURCH and state." I guess to them and the government, union of Synagogue and state is just fine. Hence, the giant Menorah on the white house front lawn.
I wouldn't have a problem with that Menorah if they didn't have a problem with everybody else's Nativity Scenes. Oh by golly can't offend nobody, *BEEP* mas, this year.
Whatever, dude. I don't have a problem with people's heritage, I have a problem with people's hypocrisy. They're the ones hateful, not you and me.
So, my solution would be to be a total smart@$$ to both sides and ritually say "Merry Christmas" on the hour and "Happy Holidays" on the half hour for 2 purposes. You say "Happy Holidays" to show you really do care about other's beliefs-and want them to be happy, but you say Merry Christmas to show that America has an overwhelmingly Christian majority and that's nothing to be ashamed of and they can get over it.
It's about being a good host and a good guest. Conservatives sometimes take the side of the host blindly, liberals take the side of the guest blindly. Either way's retarded, but the former is slightly more justified.

I hate that PC crap too. I say Merry Christmas. If someone finds it offensive then that's their problem. Last time I checked there wasn't anything in the Bill of Rights that said you had the right to not be offended. Of course, if I know someone is Jewish and it's Hanukkah I will say Happy Hannukah to that person.

By saying merry christmas to everyone, you are assuming that everyone is of the same religious persuasion as yourself, when in actuality America is the land of tolerance and we should respect our differences, that's what makes us what we are. Maybe you should move to somewhere like Italy where everone is Catholic and will appreciate your merry Christmas.

If 90% of the people you had any dealings with at that time of year greeted you with "Happy Hanukkah!" or "Blessed Yule!", would you be OK with it?

I just wonder.

For myself, when people wish me a Merry Christmas, I respond with a smile, and say "Thank you, and a Blessed Yule to you!"

I say "Merry Christmas" to people whom I *know* are Christian, and "Happy Hanukkah" to people I *know* are Jewish - friends and family and such.
