For shopping I would say Brussels (= cheaper then Milano).
Still Milano is about 3 years!! ahead on fashion so fashion Italia is the best, other shopping Brussels.
Like in every big city take care and for sure in the nightlife.

Milan is great, I don't really rate Brussels, however I haven't ever fancied going so I haven't been. Milan is so cultural as well. Let us know how you got on.

Brussels, went to Milan a few years ago, caught someone trying to pickpocket me on first day, and then wife had bag snatched on second day. had to come home, and before anyone says this can happen anywhere i have lived in London all my life and have never been a victim of this type of crime.
