Well, you would think it would be quite condescending. BUT...when they try out for the part, the character profile says what they are trying out for. They actually line up to try out for the nerdy school girl part or the fat asthmatic part and such...
Like someone else said, I can't imagine a mother telling her child that they would be great for that part!

LOOOLL!! This question is so hilarious to me! The sad part is, there are actual casting calls published on the Internet, in newspapers...actually, anywhere that people will see the ad, so people DO know what they're auditioning for. I remember, as a child, seeing a casting call in the newspaper for "a short, plump, cigarette-smoking Caucasian woman to play a cook." It was for a long-running play. I think what's worse about your question is that somewhere along the way, the parents told the child, "Honey, you would be GREAT for this part!"

I think that if that is their 'thing' they shouldn't mind. Now whether they do or not...
Probably no if they have to go through makeup to get ugly but the fat part might hurt if they are not comfortable with it.

What percentage of the movie watching population reads the credits? I know. I know. That's not the point; but, really!! They're ACTING.
