I presume we are talking about a 1989-1991 Blazer full size 6.2 v8 diesel? If I got the model right then you could use one of the following Optima Red Top batteries.

RED34/78 800 Optima 34DTO
RED75/35 720 Optima 75DTO

I like Optima batteries, but there are cheaper alternatives.

I'd look up a battery place in the yellow pages, something like Battery Services, and go along there with the battery and explain what the application is. They will almost certainly have something suitably heavy duty and the right size to just bolt in.

I checked at Interstate Batteries,,,
They say 700 or 800 cca (cold cranking amps)

Physical description is BCI 78 group.

a BCI 79 is 2 inches/50mm Longer.

Exide's #78 Batts are rated at 770cca

http://www.exide.com/pdf/exide_specs_april_2003.pdf

*** There are 500~600cca batts listed for a Diesel Blazer.
I would Not suggest that low capacity for UK weather,,

But Maybe in the Tropics that would serve well,,:)

I'd say minimum of 700 would be ok,,,
and anything you can find over 700 would be Great,

Hope that helps

Look in your manual or call the auto parts store. In the USA all amps are written on the battery on a white 'tag'. They call it Cold Cranking Amps or CA for Cranking Amps
