I work at a smaller retail store, Yankee Candle, and we do not have Veteran's Day off. The store is open, and we are actually having a sale this weekend. BUT, we are getting time and a half. I don't think most people mind working on Vet's day, but that time and a half incentive really makes it worthwhile...

So, if you were to give your employees some kind of bonus for working, they would probably want to. Everyone in my store actually WANTED to work! :)

(And yes, the holiday is this Saturday...as in 2 days)

On Veteran's Day, Saturday Nov. 11th, of course! While that's pretty magnanimous of you as an employer Veteran's Day isn't usually a day off from work.

Since you are open 7 days a week, most places make the holidays flexable, in that the employee requests a day

Well the actual holiday is Saturday, and I think you don't have to give them the day off but you do have to pay the Holiday pay rate. You sound like a nice boss though, it's cool that you are thinking of your employees.
