I have an Ibannez RG model electric guitar. When I changed the strings, I noticed that the 1st string wasn't emitting any sound when plugged into the amp after the 6th fret. Is this due to the string or what? Should I go take it to a guitar shop and have it looked at? All the other strings play just fine. Thanks for any advice!

Check to make sure that the string in question is seated at the saddle properly (back end) , and at the nut properly (front end). It may be hanging up somewhere along. It could also be the height of the string (or lack of) that's causing the problem. If you are unsure , it shouldn't cost much at a local shop to have a proper "Set up" job done on it. I would mention the term "Truss rod adjustment" , but since it's only one string as you say , that is probably unlikely, if you have a truss problem you're going to have issues with more than one string..

I'd assume you tuned it correctly (the first string should be the high E string or the thinnest string) so the high E string should of course be exactly 5 fret notes above the B string. Just make sure this is correct, otherwise I'm not too sure what to tell you other than to bring it to your local guitar shop.

It may also be a problem of the frets themselves or something related to the fretboard. Look for any damage to the frets themselves or any corrosion on the string. Otherwise your electronics/magnetics that pick up your string's frequency when played may be damaged or broken but for that you'd have to go into a guitar shop to get checked out.

Did your string slip between the fret and fingerboard when you strung it and accidentally pulled the fret up a little? This is more common than most people think.

Another thing to check is to make sure that the string is in the correct slot on the nut and bridge saddle, and that the saddle did not get turned upside down (if you have a standard tremolo on the guitar) when you strung it.

It is not an electronics problem. If it was, you wouldn't get any sound AT ALL from any of the strings from that pickup. The little studs sticking out don't go bad one at a time.

Unlike many here, I know better than to say Ibanez is any better than the likes of Epiphone, Jackson, or Fender since most of them are made in the same factory in Shanghai China by Hebei Manson.

If it was working well before you changed the strings,I would take it into the shop and have them check it out. As stated earlier, Ibanez is a great instrument...worth getting it fixed.

It is a neck problem. Take it down to your guitar shop and they will fix it. It shouldn't cost more than $50. Ibanez's are worth getting fixed, they are the best guitars on the market.

Your saying that as you progression up the agonize board, ie from 2d to third, that the observe is going down a semi tone? it somewhat is bodily impossible... the sole notes out of place seem the sharps... i think of you're examining the tuner incorrectly. the place it says 2d agonize and G* (sharp) it somewhat is going to be a G (flat). the two that or you have a bodily defying guitar.

Take it to the shop. It sounds like a pick up problem

it could be one of two things, your bridge needs to be adjusted or you might need a fret job.Try raisng the bridge abit and if that dont work take it to a shop.Look at your frets also,if the have flat spots/grooves in them you need to get the frets redone.
