I KNOW I am a Republican BUT - I think the Democrats on here did not win with dignity.
They rubbed our noses in the Republican defeat.

This was a good life lesson for me on how NOT to act when I win?

What are everyone's thoughts?

The democrats are sore winners. They're snide, cocky, and arrogent.

On the other hand, most Republicans, rather than crying and claiming the election was stollen (unlike the democrats in 2000 and 2004), have become more resolved, more determined.

Methinks this minor victory will result in a major loss for the donkeys in charge of the house and senate now (And yes, the democratic symbol IS a donkey)... Especially if they decide to waste time going after the president through endless investigations and impeachment.

I don't think you read enough responses from either republicans *or* democrats. :)

There are of course sore democrat winners, and there are of course sore republican losers (one on another question blamed the democrat win on the involvement of the liberal media -- so how does that explain congress since 1994?).

Me personally, of course I did a little happy dance after the election...but on here have stressed how important it is that now all sides can be heard, and there's now a real chance for real work to get done. Been trying to keep the gloating to a minimum -- after all, that kind of arrogance is what hurt the republican congressmen enough to have the country boot 'em out! :)
Peace, and hope for a better America.

We've had our noses rubbed in it for years. Republicans didn't behave with dignity when they held office, instead they send of their constituents sons and daughters to die in a war we had no business fighting, give tax breaks to everyone who makes a pile every year like themselves, give themselves raises on top of it, trying to privatize social security, mindlessly mimicking the words "compassionate conservatism" and "no child left behind" seeming to think if they SAY it enough it will magically come true. I stood by and watched them take away my rights with the Patriot Act, and was told I was unpatriotic because I didn't support Bush's war. How dignified of them. Treating me like I'm less of a citizen because I disagree. A lot of people fell for it. I never did. I will always vehemently defend my rights. So I will dance in the streets and go tell it on a mountain, I am so happy Democrats have Congress now. We can finally start trying to clean up the mess that's been made.

in my opinion, I dislike both. Sore losers do have a reason to be disillusioned about yet they could go back up with 1000 motives of ways the triumphing crew or participant cheated or shouldnt of received. yet sore winners purely flow round bragging.

oh sure. Dems are gloating a bit but hey! considering it's been 6 years of being called "traitors" and "terrorists sympathizers" Dems are behaving rather well, in my opinion.

"question" after "question" of neoCONNED whining and sour grapes only feeds Dem gloating. so why not suck it up gracefully for awhile? it's just politics, after all. those Dems now in power are just politicians and politicians ALWAYS do something stupid that allows the opposing party to win. just like what happened this past election.

This question might sound familiar:
"Did the Democrats start slashing tires and buying votes yet?"
A lot of conservatives posted questions like that, hammering liberals with baseless, childish accusations.
People who write questions like that don't have any claim to the moral high ground and should learn how to act before an election. It's sad to say that the president was no different.

I guess it depends on your definition of sore winning and sore losing. I was surprised how civilized everyone has been, and how much bickering has subsided. But i am on the winning team, so I'm not focusing on the negatives. Celebration is not 'sore winning'. Not congratulating the winners is 'sore losing' IMO

Democrats are sore winners but pre election the republicans were by far the most abusive and crude in their canvassing (on here anyway)

I think BOTH.

You can't remember 2 years back and how the Republicans acted....right up until yesterday.

Republicans were pretty bad when they won in 2000 and 2004. Yahoo Answers didn't exist then, but other forums do exist (talk radio, other websites, tv shows) to show how obnoxious they were. Both sides are capable of that behavior when they win.

Besides, when you spend most of the time accusing the other side of being "anti-American" and "commies" like the Republicans did, you have no right to expect civility back.

scorbore- There ARE other forums than just Answers to discuss politics. The politcal universe does exist outside of Y/A, you know
