For school I'm writing a five chapter book (first two paragraphs below) about an Amer-Asian girl and I need input and history. any books or sites or info you can offer? thanks!

"Please give me a name."

This might work. The nameless girl had suffered a lot. She was an Amer-Asion living on the streets of Korea. Being a homeless orphan was bad. Being Amer-Asian in Korea was worse. But being nameless was worst.

Her father had taught her English. She remembered him. Laughing blue eyes, an odd spattering of brownish-orange polka dots on his face, and long limbs. She remembered watching the sky swirl by as he whiled her around, then her was face smashed against his no-longer-crisp uniform in a hug. Then her feet were on the ground again and she watched his long legs walk away. He left with her that memory, brief knowledge of the Enlglish language, and the feeling that life was good and she belonged to a world made fo a freckled soldier and herself with a beautiful sky

I read what you have so far and I like it. I went to my schools (SFSU) website to see what books are used in Asian American Studies classes and found a few titles that may help you.
Strangers from diffrent shores - Takaki
Asian American Literature - Wong
Quiet Odyssey - Lee
Still Life with Rice - Lee
In Absence of Sun - Lee
Doing What Had to be done- narritive of Dorayum Kim -Chin

Those are the required text for Korean American studies and Asian American Literature. You can either goggle the title or go to amozon.com and get little synopses of each book if you need refrences.

As for a name for the little girl, something completely american maybe, like Amy or Elizabeth, because the mother would want her child to be as completely american as possible since Amer-asians weren't liked much during war.

I hope this helps and keep writing. You have a gift.
