she does not have to sign the divorce papers until they are the way she wants them... Tell her to keep calling legal aid every 15 minutes until she gets a response. Eventually they'll get sick of her calling and someone will talk to her.

It all depends on where you live because every state has different procedures.

She can contact her Family Court in her area and they can advise her on how she can file a response. Also they can advise where she can get an attorney at low or no cost.

In my opinion I would research and find out all the ends and outs just in case. Sometimes the other spouse can be testy so she should be armed and ready with info.

Also it is really beneficial if she fully understands the divorce process. Check out the website below.

God Bless and I hope all works out!

Try seeing if the county the summons was filed in Georgia has anything online for the court house. Some counties have the ability to file petitions and responses online for free. Good luck.

Go to the local law library. Ask for a form book for legal responses re:a divorce. Copy it, type it up and fill in the blanks.

Many attys give free initial consultations. Look in the yellow pages, call around, make 2 or 3 appointments, and build your questions on what the last one just told you. That also give you some ideas for selecting an atty if need be.

Believe me, on this one you don't want advice from the likes of us. Something this serious needs a professional diagnosis. There are myriad legal organizations, both private and state run that provide sound legal advice on a 'pro bono' basis (free). Check your local listing for the one nearest you.

When she gets divorce papers, she can return them back to lawyer with a written statement of her demands before accepting to sign them.
Once papers have been rewritten and she agrees to terms,
then she can sign to finalize the divorce

Call the state bar association, they should be able to give you a list of Pro-Bono attorneys.

If not.....HELP HER OUT with the fee.
