I just found out I will be the proud Mommy of twin boys. Is there anything I should do differently? That I wouldn't do during normal pregnancy? This is my first pregnancy anyway, so everything is new to me. I am 17 weeks along and I am 23 years old. I still work and luckily I have a sit down job so I am not standing around or lifting heavy objects. It seems like I've gotten weaker since I've been pregnant, but now with two I'm afraid to over do myself even more.... Anyone ever have twins before???

I have 10 month old identical twin girls and they were my first pregnancy. I delivered them via c-section at 36weeks 2days. They were a healthy 5lbs2oz and 6lbs1oz and went home from the hospital with me.

-I didn't really do too much differently than my friends who had "singletons". I did have alot more doctors appointments/ultrasounds. I needed alot more rest during the third trimester. But don't treat yourself like an invalid. I still walked to work every day and I'm glad I kept my stregnth up!

-I also ate more than others although the biggest "secret" to have a good twin pregnancy is to be careful about your diet. Make smart choices and don't gain too much too fast.

-I worried about being on bedrest but I ended up working until 3 days before I delivered.

-I would definately join your local Mothers of Twins Club. You can find it through the NOMTC (National Organization Mothers of Twins Club). I got some great tips from other mothers of multiples plus most clubs sponsor sales of outgrown clothes, toys, etc.

-Find an online resource/message board for support. www.twinstuff.com has been a huge source of support for me. Any questions I've had those moms have been able to help. Other resources are available at www.twinsmagazine.com, ivillage.com, etc.

Congratulations and good luck!

Generally everthing remains the same for a twin pregnancy as a single pregnancy until the middle of the second trimester. By that point the size and weight of the babies starts to take a toll on mom, and more caution is needed.

Your doctor will be able to advise you better. In most cases she'll tell you to stay off your feet more towards the end, (you still want to move around a little, to avoid clots), and probably to avoid sex half way through your pregnancy, due to the stress on your body from the activity, and the risk of preterm labor.

So long as your healthy and well monitored you can continue on as normal pretty much clear through.

Drink pleanty of water, thats the best advise for any pregnancy :)

Congratulations! My twin niece and nephew just turned two. There weren't many things we could do during the pregnancy that we wouldn't have done with a single. But be sure to get plenty of rest. And don't be discouraged if you have to go on bed rest. It is very common with twins and my sister fought it so hard and was heartbroken about it. That is alot of weight to carry and her body just couldn't' hold up anymore. The twins were delivered one month early and both weighed almost 6 pounds and were completely healthy (and so damn cute)! So go ahead and do any of the preparations that you can in advance in case you wind up flat on your back for a couple of months! Good luck.

Well To preserve your toddlers healthful, take your pre natal nutrients, folic acid and DHA each and every unmarried day. Eat and drink healthful. No caffeine. You can not hinder stretch marks, If you get stretch marks earlier than you are pregnant that suggests you're genetically susceptible to getting them and you're obviously going to get stretch marks at the same time you're pregnant it doesn't matter what you do sadly.

My daughter has beautiful twin girls!! She got HUGE (compared to her single birth) and the girls came a month early. You need an OB/GYN that has twin experience -- hers did not (new Dr) and she refered her to another Dr. She held lots of water and her hips really hurt - still do some times, 4 yrs later. Congrats on the new little angels - God Bless.
