From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.

These words by Chief Joseph have become an inspiration to many people, not just Native Americans, to realize that violence is the solution to nothing. When children are frozen and hungry as in Chief Joseph's day, or frightened and traumatized, as in Iraq, it's not worth it. Shock and awe my ***!!!
We lost over 3000 precious souls in the World Trade Center. We realize that all of these people had family and friends, and the people who tried to rescue them, and who gave up their lives for them, those families were also traumatized. But we also realize that in Iraq, where we don't see, where the media does not show us on the nightly news, families are being traumitized also on a daily basis. Part of that is not our fault, because it is between religious/ethic groups. But the part of that IS our fault, and it is time to put an end to traumatizing children...not just in Iraq but in the entire world. It used to be the House of Representatives, as written by Thomas Jefferson, had to vote to declare war. During the Vietnam era Lyndon Johnson got away with an undeclared war, and ever since the US Presidents play war games with our children without having any checks on them. This needs to be addressed.
In our own country, the Native Americans and the African Americans have shown a better example of how to deal with changing a society without violence than any of us appreciate. It's still not a perfect world for these groups. But they have much less blood on their hands than we want to admit we do.

No but enemies do have to be killed or else they kill you. But the best solution is not to make any enemies. Because there will probably never be a time when all your enemies will be killed and you will free of them. One dies and 2 are born. Its like a never ending problem

No - going on a killing spree would only create enemies out of our allies.

the right amount of violence (which is determined by the situation) can bring about a solution, but sometimes we judge the wrong amount and either feed the fire, or bring disaster.

No. We keep counting all these wars as victories. A victory is something that lasts. It's too bad oil is worth more than human life...
