It is not Christian marriage we are fighting over it is civil marriage.
I can already get married in my church and that's great....just doesn't carry any legal weight.

Where does it say that in the bible? I still have never seen that.
And, I'm pretty sure gay people are not all that worried about getting married in a "christian" way. They want to be recognized by the state, like any other heterosexual couple has the opportunity to do. Not all gays are Christian.
Maybe you should work on tolerance. Because you are not being very Christian-like right now.

The bible does say that "men who lie with men" are going to the same place reserved for Satan and his demons.
Then again, being Wiccan I don't follow with the bible's teachings. I agree with some of the other answers here, most times its just that the couple in question wants State recognition. Marriage is the usual ceremony of joining two individuals.
I find it humorous that there are many "Christian" religions that are now accepting of gays given that they claim to follow the teachings in the Bible.

The problem is that they can't get married in ANY way, not even in a Civil Ceremony. Once Gay marriage is legal, as it one day will be in this country, if a gay couple is having a Christian wedding you are free not to attend.

Good, hope it p1sses off everyone in you religion.
And for the record, I find christians like you with bigoted views just as offensive.
By the way, you know the bible says beat the cr@p out of your wife if she comes in the house when she's having a period...do you do that...or will you when you get married?
Read the Old Testament...it's full of most unpleasant things...it's where the anti-gay cr@p gets dredged up from...so if it's good enough for using against us, so should the rest of it...your bible tells you not to wear clothes woven of two different materials...hope you follow that too...and the one about not rounding your hair at the temples...I'm guessing I know your bible better than you do, and I'm not stupid enough to believe it...or selective enough to use it simply to repress and attack others when it suits.

If we ignore the fact that homosexuals are entitled to the same rights as everyone else on this earth, there is still the reason that not everyone is Christian...in fact, every other religion is allowed to get married in your so called 'Christian' way...so why not us??? In fact, I know of many homosexuals who do consider themselves Christian, Catholic, etc...this should not change the fact that we should be allowed to marry who we chose and be given the same rights as anyone else.

Whether you find it offensive really does not matter. Gay people get married in non-denominational weddings, Jewish weddngs, and Christian weddings to name a few. Let God decide and stop judging!

OMG Goodness!
Why is it that Christians think that everything has something to do with them. Marriage existed years before Christ. So if is its an issue with Gay unions why should it matter to you? GOD does the judging NOT man. Let people get UNITED the way that they see fit and GOD will judge NOT MAN!

Marriage predates Christianity by a good few thousand years. If gay couples want to mark their relationship in some way, that's their business.

I don't know if I've ever been to a Christian marriage. Have you?
Now, I've been to Christian wedding ceremonies- celebrations and formalizations of marriage. But, due to the fact that our government has separation of church and state, our marriages are civil and not religious.
Right?
