I've answered this kind of question before, this is what I told the other guy, it worked for him,and its been working for me:
Yup, very easily, just change the setting under iTunes that make it automatically update your ipod and when you're ready to use your laptop again you can put the songs back onto iTunes.
You can contact me if you have any other questions.
Unlike the person below me, I've never had those experiences. I was even amazed at how simple it was to copy music but let me tell you another way.
When you're ready to use your laptop open up My Computer.
Under My Computer you should see your ipod under devices with removable storage, click on it.
Under you ipod open up "ipod Control" and copy the music folder inside onto you laptop.
Voila, you can add that folder to your library from iTunes.
This method has worked for me quite a few times with quite a few ipods, old and new.

I don't think you can put songs onto a computer from your ipod. You can only put them onto your ipod from your computer.

I don't think you can; you need to make a backup of your iTunes (which is a good idea anyway). I apologise in advance if I'm wrong.

You can't. They have set it up so it only works one way. There is a programme you can buy that will allow you to do it but unfortunately i can't remember what it's called. try googling it you find it.
