My wife and I will be celebrating our 5 yr. Wedding anniversary this weekend. I'm taking her away for the weekend but still would like to get her a present. She has already said that she does not want anything for our weekend plans is costing a good amount of money and we just restored our kitchen that cost a pretty penny as well. In any case, I still want to give her something to show my appreciation. I've heard your 5 yr. has something to do with wood...I know what some are thinking..."Give her your wood"..lol!! Anyone have any other suggestions?

The "traditional" 5th year wedding anniversary gift was supposed to be wood, but now the modern take is silverware.

If you just restored your kitchen, maybe something she can showcase in there if she likes to cook or there a lot.

Maybe you can get a frame that has five 4x6 picture slots, and put in one of your favorite photos from each of the five married years together. It would be sweet, but not too expensive.
Here's one at Target:

If all this relevant in today's society. The hard fast rules or suggestions for wedding anniversaries are simply guidelines created by someone for those that can't figure it out for themselves. Since you know the Internet, engine search on there for all the years. Paper has it for number one. Modern gifts are clocks. So the breakdown is traditional and modern. Look at that site if you must. Make sure you think of the recipient getting the gift at all costs, as that is the most important thought........

Yea if you want to stay with the wood thing then get a peice of wood carved with your last names for the front of your house on the door or something... or blow up one of your wedding pictures in a nice wood frame.... or blow up an old picture that reminds you of when you guys 1st met or something like that. Or when you are going away on vacation set up the room with flowers on the bed and bring some candles in your suitcase and light those when shes in the shower or something and play her favorite song or your wedding song! That's what I would want!!! Now go and get her!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! I think you should have a night where you open doors for her and look at her in her eyes and tell her you love her. Hold her hand. Surprise her with Roses and then at night you spend that one night pleasuring HER!! Take off her clothes slowly massage her body with your hands and kiss her in places that yo now drives he crazy. do her favorite positions and tell her that she looks so good that night. Do something you have never done before. surprise her. Make a night that is for her and even give her a card and say in it like " I want to show you that I really do appreciate you and that I love you sooooo much, so this night is for you!" Its a cheap and very nice way to show your women that you have not lost that love for her and that you still do desire her! No amount of money can satisfy a women like this will. To add a little extra gift to your present, you could get her some beautiful wood jewelry, since wood is the traditional gift for 5 years of marriage. I found a beautiful necklace for my wife online from Liel and Lentz, based in Toronto. Check out their site: www.lielandlentz.com

Do something cute like a big frame with pictures of both of you spanning the last 5 years together. LIke a mural or something and write a sweet poem in the center.

How about creating a mix CD of special songs? You can burn it from CDs or buy them from iTunes.

Or creating a photo album or scrapbook from "the first 5 years" (or longer depending how long you were together before getting married...)

Then you can buy another album with something like "the next 5 years" or something like that. :)

Offer to go into a portrait studio and have portraits done. (With kids if you have them)

Everyone can go to the salon to get hair and make up done. Then pick out new outfits to wear and then get the photos taken.

Aww what a lucky woman. I think any small token would be appreciated, but 5 years is monumental so perhaps a simple diamond pendant, earrings, tiffany silver ID bracelet.....something she can wear and look at and it will remind her of you. And of course, give her your wood too.....LOL
