".edu" is used for university/college websites. Their research is for students only - you need a student i.d. and/or password to use the school's research database.

Look at Perdue's OWL Writing Center. Look at University of NC Chapel Hill's Writing Center. For citation look at www.citationmachine.net or KnightCite. If you are looking for research information, Go to GradeSaver, which is Harvard. www.scholar.google.com. , the websites put out by any highly regarded college are reliable.
