I was pregnant with my son last year at 240 lbs. I am now 260lbs and I am not being able to get pregnant. We have been trying for 5 months and I am loosing hope and thinking that it is because I am overweight. I have no health issues, I had no problems while i was pregnant with my son. I feel so un-womanly and am loosing hope. Are there any other women who are big who have gotten pregnant recently?

That's so strange, I was just talking to my sister about this very subject! She weighed 248 pounds 7 months ago. She decided since she wasn't getting pregnant, and the doctor told her the fat around her heart was as bad as if she smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day, she went on a diet! My sisters weight went down to 160 pounds, and she's 3 months pregnant. Yes, you can get pregnant at your weight, but it's not really good for you or your baby. My sister started eating two good size salads per day, and a regular meal of 1 piece of skinless , boneless chicken breasts, a small baked potato, and green beans. Plus she drank about a gallon of water a day. She will stick to this diet for the rest of her life. Her doctor told her she was borderline diabetic, and she had "better" stick to this diet. She looks & feels so much better. Maybe you would like to try something like what my sister did. She eats a bowl of oatmeal/raisons in the morning. She's cut out all bread & sodas too. Whatever you decide, good luck, okay?

I am overweight, but only about 5 lbs. more than I was when I conceived my daughter. My husband and I just started our 5th month ttc again, with the help of fertility meds. I have been ovulating, so it's frustrating that I haven't conceive yet. It took us 8 months to conceive our daughter, but during our 7th month ttc, my OB found I had endometriosis and removed it. We conceived the very next month. My OB said my endo could not come back this quickly, so I asked if my weight could be an issue. He said no because I am ovulating. Sometimes weight can interfere with ovulation, but as long as you are ovulating, then you should be able to conceive. If you don't know, then I suggest start charting your daily basal body temperature. You can learn how and chart for free at fertilityfriend.com. Good luck!

I was 320 when I got pregnant with my son. I am healthy except for the fact that I an overweight. I was prepared for problems when I was pregnant...tell you what...had none...just breezed through. I ended up losing weight during my pregnancy. My periods were regular like clockwork. I had to take fertility drugs to get pregnant because I had been on the deposhot and it had stopped my body from ovulating all together. Go to the Dr and have him check if youare ovulating.

Well, I am overweight too. I wasn't getting periods regularly either. I lost 40 pounds and now my periods come pretty regularly. I do know that if you are over weight your insulin and blood levels can change and those levels affect your hormone levels, particularly the one that makes you ovulate. I would look in to the South Beach Diet. That is what I did and it really helps level out all of your hormones and shed the pounds. Believe it or not, 20 pounds can make a difference in the way our bodies preforms. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you.

If you say you don't have any health problems I would say, keep up your hope. Sometimes it just takes time. But it is a lot of weight and even though you may not have health problems, you have health risks. Try starting an exercise routine and eat smaller portions. If you cut your caloric intake and exercise, it will help you lose weight. In the meantime, keep "practicing" for a baby, it's GREAT exercise too! Best of luck!

I was 226 when I got pregnant with my daughter, and I was 35 when I conceived, so I had a double whammy.

Don't lose hope!
