the word I need translated is "Wurfspeer", my dictionary only says "spear" but there has to be a word for "spear for throwing" or...you know...."Wurfspeer"....I desperately hope you can help me with that......and there´s another word I need translated: "Luftloch" or "Atemloch", which is a hole in the drift ice for the seals to breathe.....

Are you sure that the literal translations would not be sufficient? 'Throwing spear' is a clear and accurate translation of 'Wurfspeer', as is 'air hole' for 'Luftloch'. If i thought of an 'air hole', the first thing I would think of would be a hole in sheet ice.I'm sure the German word is no more specific, without further clarifcation or context.

Wurfspeer, well a spear for throwing is a javelin as in athletic games type of spear throwing. Sorry can't you with the other one, I don't think there's a specific word for it.

My guess is that 'Wurfspeer' would be translated as 'javelin' and that 'Luftloch' as 'air hole' or 'breathing hole'.

in whales they have a blow hole.
for your use breathing hole or orifice should be OK.
Just checked on the web, they call them 'seal breathing holes'.
