the NHL board is trying to figure out if the new schedule is ok for the next 2 years, there has been talks that they might change it next year. i would believe playing 6 times in your own didvision is good then more in the conference and more in the west or east depending on which conference your in. look at the Leafs in the first month they played the Sens 4 times from October 4th to October 31st. that is crazy and it gets to be boring to watch actualy. what do you think do you like the new schedule or would you like it to be changed so more teams can play each other from conference top conference. Montreal Canadiens don't go out West fro the next 3 years and theirs allot of Habs fans in the B.C area.

I'm with ya! John Garret (as much as I don't really like him) has come up with what so far in my opinion is the perfect schedule. It looked like this

6 x division = 24 games
4 x conference = 40 games
1 x opposite conference = 15 games
three remaining games are played against the team in the opposite conference that finished in the same spot as you last year. 1v1 2v2 3v3 etc.

= 82 games.

Fans & teams get to see other teams at least once each year and end up seeing equal talent from the opposite conference. And we don't go years with out seeing a team. Like the Habs!

I think the NHL sucks at scheduling period. 6 games in the division is plenty. They could cut down on conference games too to make room for playing other teams. They go for the drama.....I mean they think you need so many conference and division games to build up to the playoffs. But if your division plays the same teams.....does it really matter? You want to make the playoffs make it where you need to beat teams from other divisions and conferences. Hell....I want to see Buffalo play teams from the west such as Anaheim. There are just too many teams now. Scheduling is screwed up plus there is not enough talent to go around this league being so big.

The Sabres schedule has sucked so far this year. Last week they went 5 days without playing a game and the play 3 games in 4 nights. Now this week they have gone 5 days again and will play 4 games in 6 nights. They need to get their heads out of their a**es already. Bettman must go!!!

Rant over! You hit my button with that question Habitant. LOL!

GO SABRES GO!!!!

The NHL is messed up and their schedule is a superb example!! Right now the NHL has too many teams as compared to the 70's & 80's were a team played every other team 4 times a year or at least a home & home series! I grew up in Minnesota and watched the North Stars and got to see every team but now with the brilliant wisdom of today's NHL, you're stuck seeing some teams all at once like you say and never seeing them again unless you make the playoffs and some teams, you don't see at all now during the season!!! The Minnesota Wild's schedule is unblievable...they play your Canadiens once later this month!!!

I like the Leafs playing the Habs but now it is too often and it takes away from the significance, also the rivalry they talk about is really for people over 45 . I don't feel it , I was raised on Detroit , the Blues and Chicago, that's the rivalries I know. I'm sure there are teams we all miss seeing since they reworked the conferences and now we have this schedule set up so we don't see these teams for years on end? The things people come up with, gheeze..

I think that the NHL needs to mix it up a bit. What are they trying to do with this years schedule anyways? Save (travel) money? I agree that this season has been boring. Watching the Leafs play the same 'ol, same 'ol is boring. I would love to see the Leafs play teams from the other conference - in particular: Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, Colorado and Detroit.

It seems self defeating to shut out an entire division for two years if they want to make the game popular in areas that aren't familiar with hockey. Six games vs. each team in your division sounds reasonable and then three games vs. teams elsewhere in your conference and the other conference would be two games each.

The way the schedule is now sucks. There needs to be more diversity.
