Do hedgehogs make good pets? Give a little back ground info. Are they smart, do they bite? Anything

They are great!

I have a male hedgehog. Now I can't speak for all the pet hedgehogs out there because I've only ever had one and they are all different! But I have NEVER been bitten by Oscar and I think it is very rare for them to bite. Instead of biting, they use their spines for defence.

I don't really know what to say about them being smart....
they aren't any more smart or any more dumb than any other animal.

If you decide to get one it will need to eat dry cat food and mealworms/crickets. Cat food being the most important. Of course it will need a bowl/saucer full of water. They need to be kept warm (they originate from Africa).. mine is in my room! They need a wheel. And that's about it for the basics.

Mine is lovely. He never erects his spines at me (apart from when I wake him). He is very tame and friendly. They cost around £100 - mine was £125. Males tend to be cheaper.

Well, here in colo you have to have a special liscence to sell them, at least as a pet shop, so me experience with these are slim. I worked with a girl who had one though, and she eventually sold it. I know you need the right kind of food. She did a lot of research and she said that royal canin cat food was the best dry food. Hers got to be very grumpy and didn't like beingh handled or messed with much. She was very knowledgeable with pets, and was a very kind , responsible person, but it wasn't right for her. I would find out all you can and be SURE that is the right pet for you.

I had hedge hogs.
They were fun.
I have been bitten but it is not really bad as most times they can not break the skin.
They sleep in the day time alot and are more active at night.
I bred mine and had several litters of little ones.
They are illegal in the area that I live in.
