The Republican Party had the Presidency and controlled the House and Senate for most of the last six years. In those years, they accomplished little and there were mutliple scandals. Their biggest foreign policy initiaative, the Iraq War, is a disaster. Record budget surpluses turned to record budget deficits. Our relationships with other countries are the worst I have ever seen them. Okay, the Democrats have admittedly not come up with good plans of their own, at least not yet. But shouldn't a party that had so much opportunity and failed be replaced so that someone else has a shot?

Andrew--Just because I don't point out similar abuses by Democrats in the past, I don't know my history? I never said one way or the other whether former Democrats also got what they deserved. The fact that you can only answer by pointing the finger at things Democrats did decades ago means you have no good answer.

Did the Republican Party get what it deserved? Not yet, 50 are under indictment or investigation with more to come as the Abramoff and other scandals continue to unfold.

I seriously believe that the voter turnout tuesday reflected that all americans want change. President Bush just wasn't getting it. Actually he probably still doesn't. But with the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld, it shows that at least the Don does get it. This morning on the news it was reported by some that Donald is the reason that so much has gone wrong in Iraq. I disagree to a point. Remember that he was appointed by George. That's who he worked for, GEORGE! So as you see George employs people he knows he can use for his own agenda. Same with Cheney, but if I were Bush and CHeney I'd be scard that the new dems are going to start doing their digging and soon find that this administration has had us all fooled.

Get what they deserve?

They got more democrats ... so what?

That's like saying did the offense get good field position as the defense left the field in a NFL football game.

The real question is DID America get what it deserves?

The ONLY way to STOP the Democrats or the Republicans is to stop voting for either of them. This country has more than 10 parties to vote for ... get involved - save yourselves.

got what we deserved by not being able to get things done? A majority doesnt mean the other side has no say if they would have come up with any good ideas it wouldnt take a dem majority to pass it. How bout did the people get what they deserved? a govt that has the peoples interests at heart and not a highschool turf war. and you dont understand that is why this country is heading toward socialist and no one will admit it. thanks

The American public voted "against the Republicans" not, "for the Democrats", anyone calling themselves a Democrat could have won in some of those states, i.e-Penn., NY. Ohio, but others were extremely close and in my opinion, pissed off conservatives staying home is what caused the Republican to lose in those states.

Remember when the Dem's were swept out of office in 94, they got what they deserved for their corruption, and for not listening to the American people, and so the Rep's got what they deserved for not listening to the American people. Any party in office to long brings corruption, and they become out of touch with the people, they become to insulated. And it will happen again if the Dem's are in power to long, they will feel they are above the law.

Yes, they did. It's about time my party has had a say in the Government's affairs. Now I will be able to give some praise to our government instead of, quite frankly, bitching about it all the time.
