The answers people have given you are crazy. Only Warren 1515 had a reasonable answer for you. What you are describing is not normal. I know of no one who does this as they are falling asleep. I would recommend a sleep specialist for consultation.

I do this a lot. Why? Well, I live an active lifestyle. When I've been practicing or playing A LOT, have a competition coming up, or actually haven't "practiced" in a while, I start to dream of the activity. The "ticks" in this case, are "me" performing the actions. Sometimes they are BIG, sometimes small. Drives the wife nuts.

It's basically muscle activity. You're mind is still active as you "lose control" at the point of sleep... the brain stays engaged and you involuntarily spasm. This also occurs with "stored up" energy....your muscles get an electrical action signal and react...without your control or knowledge [tho I've woken myself up with some good lurches now and then!].

IF it is persistent and a problem, yes, have your boyfriend consult his doctor. If anything, he may explain it better, and put your minds to rest.

I've heard of people having small ticks as they fall asleep. Such as their finger moving when they're sleeping, or maybe the muscles in their legs having slight spasm for a short time. Never have I heard of someone have body spasms. Hmmm...Don't really know have him do a sleep study just in case.

it's normal-when you begin to fall asleep, there are different stages before you get to "deep sleep"..some people do have small spasms before being sound asleep. Not dangerous, unless he happens to be wielding a sharp knife in his bed or something :)

I love that feeling, you are half awake and half asleep and then your body shakes and you feel like if you are floating or falling from the sky. Awesome!!!

It is normal. It happens when the body is relaxing. It happens to everyone. Sometimes it even wakes me up lol. But don't worry it's normal :)

This is a good question for him to ask his doctor who is familiar with his medical history and who is qualified, trained, and licensed to give medical advice. People on this site are not. Good luck.

Chow!!

How do you can consider "normal" such facts?!
I never have seen or heard about people doing that!
So it's not normal or common though it can't be a sign of a specific illness.
Surely it's implied the nervous system or the musles.
