Every baby is different- I do, however, think that 1 week is a long time, my 2 kids never went that long. I must say though, this is a great place to get ideas and advice but nothing beats calling or visiting the doctor. A simple phone call could put your mind at rest and you know that they know what they're talking about- putting syrup, prune juice etc in a bottle may have worked for others but no situation is the same, your baby is still very young and should be given 'additives' in their bottle only under doctor supervision. Sorry to sound preachy but it scares me when i read people telling others to put less formula in the bottle, add this and that when who knows if they actually know what they're talking about! Good luck and use your doctor- that's what they're there for and they don't care how silly the question when it comes to babies...

No, it is not normal. Your baby should be having a bowel movement at least once a day. Some baby formulas cause constipation and this can be cured by changing formulas according to what your pediatritian recommends. You should seek medical advice from your baby's doctor.

No that is not normal, she should be going at least every other day. I have to give my 18 month old son Lactulose ( a very mild laxative that won't make the bowels lazy) 3 times a day to get him going!
Once she gets older make sure she drinks loads of water & eats plenty fruit & veg and she may be ok. My son started having problems when he went on to cows milk which apparently is very common.

No that is not normal. Doctors will tell you that the most normal is to have a movement after each meal but most of us are just once a day. My gastroenterologist has told me if you don't have daily movements on a regular basis, you are constipated. You should have her checked by your pediatrician. I have had problems with my daughter and we've had to go to the doctors office because she became impacted. Your doctor can advise you of what to take to train your body. Once it becomes routine, you most likely won't have it to worry about anymore.

Typically by that age if they are having fewer bowel movement it means their formula is not enough and they need more to satisfy them. You should have her on baby cereal. I would try the rice first because the oatmeal tends to constipate them. She is also old enough to start on baby food stage 1. Try the banana yogurt. But watch the apple sauce it tends to give babies diarrhea if they have too much.

Perfectly normal as long as she isn't straining a lot and in pain. Formula fed babies tend to have few bowel movements.

No this is not normal!! Your baby should be pooping every day or at least every second. If it continues for more than two days then try a teaspoon of brown sugar and 3 ounces of water this should get the little one going again. If you do not believe me then talk to you mom or grandma and see what they hiave to say. All I know is that it works for my baby

Everyone is different. Some go everyday and some once a week.
Is she eating and cereals? Are the bm's soft and mushy or hard pellets? If they are hard that is not good. Give an ounce of prune
juice diluted every other day. If she is eating rice, barley or some
boxed cereal sometimes it's very hard on their little tummies.

she is very constipated. you need to inform your health visitor. this is very common in babies. i had the same problem with my daughter. i gave her diluted prune juice when she was about 10mnths old. just try and find out if it will be ok to give her a few mls of water. rub her tummy clock wise and her back anti clockwise. this will promote her bowel movement. try and bend her knees to her chest when she is straining. but you need to inform your health visitor. once a week is too little for her.
bless!
