It is probably just life catching up with you. You may have had too many extra curricular activities, trying to find what suited you best.
Possibly you could concentrate on the curriculum for now and take a break from the other activities. Take time out to think and then decide what you relly want to do.
I think we all feel like this at times because there is so much pressure on us to learn every thing. Knowledge is changing at an ever increasing rate and we try to understand it all at once.

Just remember activities don't make you who you are, and they are always there to rejoin. Why does a failure not play the piano to you? People with depression often just lose their motivation. It happens to me. What you need to do is find something that actually makes you happy, even in depression, and do it, just or you. Not because it's an activity and you should do it, but because you love it. For me, this was writing and painting. No matter how I felt, doing these always made me feel better and, because I can do them at home, I could funk out and still make myself do something I felt good about.
You aren't doing anything wrong. Your head is playing tricks on you and telling you have a reason to be sad and that you're not doing what you should do.
Did you like your activities or were you just doing them because you felt you had to? Remember, it's okay sometimes to quit things you sincerely don't like to do. Find something else and then force yourself to do it if you love it. Talk to people with different activities who love them and ask if you can try them out too. Good luck and feel better.

If you were enjoying playing the Piano then you need to tell your parents that you want to continue lessons. If they are not convinced tell them that they just make a mistake and that you are willing to get back into it.
If your problem is that you think you really did lose interest because of your depression then you need to talk with a school councilar or a relgious leader or adult about how you have been feeling. The most important thing when you are Depressed is to let someone else who is trained in helping people know.
Even if you just let someone who you think can help know that something is wrong that should get the ball rolling. Depression can have many causes and it is hard to get through it entirely on your own.

I am sort of having the same thing. It is sometimes okay to just relax and take a break from activities. It is not up to those people to decide what activities you do. Also, when someone is clinically depressed, they lose interest in activities that they once enjoyed. Maybe you should ask for help. There's nothing wrong with that.

Depression is usually a result of chemical imbalance- usu. dopamine.. and usually secondary to changes in hormonal balances, disease, trauma, and least of all social changes. How old are you-- puberty and first mensus in girls is a very trying time. You can see a doctor about it, get some drugs, never be the you that you miss,,, or just wait and get over it. One day you will wake up and that period of deep darkness will seem like it was sooo long ago, and you will laugh at how dumb it was to have nearly wasted everything for nothing..just don't do anything really stupid between now and the end of it..

Depressed people take little to no joy in life or interests they used to have. If what you do is start things, then realize you either never had much interest in it or you weren't much good at it, then you just dabbled and found out it wasn't your thing. It sounds strange to say this in a time when we are all supposed to have some wonderful talent or another, but not all of us do, and even at that, some of us stumble into it as full grown adults. Maturity can be a necessity for some endeavors.

Get a dog or a cat. Some type of pet. Unconditional love, total acceptance. What more could you ask for? A pet can help you get through the tough times, and you are the boss. You can train a dog to do anything, like scare people (it is quite funny) or to purr on command(for cats).

Lack of motivation and feeling like a failure are symptoms of a disease. Your parents should get you help instead of punishing you for it. But since many parents won`t help their mentally ill children, you will have to get help yourself. Please talk to a doctor, a school counselor or a teacher you trust.
I wish you the best of luck, and remember, depression is no different than any other disease: it needs to be treated.
