I would especially like to hear from residents, both locals and foreigners. All the stories about the city you have time to tell and are willing to share with the rest of us are more than welcome. Thanks a lot.

I like the life over here. I like the never ending sunshine (heat dont' bother me, we have ac), our nice house, good job, nice salary, many things to do, nice beaches, nice places to go to, many friends and it's clean, not much crime, just peaceful. I even like the laws over here and wish my homecountry would have them. Labour is very cheap and medical care is just great and also not expensiv at all. Nationals are very nice and friendly and I am with them a lot. What more can I ask for?
But I am still realistic and see that are also "bad" sides in many peoples eyes. Like there are: low salaries for workers, bad livingconditions for them, high rents and high livingcosts, heavy traffic daily and many westerners (tourists) still think that women over here are treated "second class". I just wish people would know more more about these beautiful places.
Sometimes I think i was born in the wrong country.

I've lived in this city for about 18 years. And trust me when I say that it's been a love/hate relationship so far.
There are days when I can't imagine living anywhere else. I mean I have the sun, beach, and malls. I mean what else can a girl ask for?
There are so many new developments out here that you can't keep on top of them. It's amazing to see new towers spring up everywhere. Of course if it's the week that I'm hating Dubai, then I can't stand the sight of all the cranes. Sometimes I just want to run away and come back when the constructions done!!(I've tried this, by the way, and it didn't work.)

The one great thing about living here is that you can take a trip; go out of Dubai and visit surrounding areas that have not been developed yet. I can check out Al Ain, Hatta, Diba, Fujairah and think back to my childhood when Sheikh Zayed Road was just desert. I love that I can go into the mountains and just get away from everything-from all the chaos that Dubai can be.
I can go and sit on a sand dune and just watch the sunset. That is one of the greatest experiences in life. Nothing but you and the seas of sand infront of you. Really makes you think!

There are many things I dislike about Dubai; traffic, can't walk around the town, not enough outdoor activities (cause of the heat), too many malls, growing too fast, high cost of living, nationalities tend to stay within their own groups, and so on.

Hey I visited Dubai recently, its a fantastic city. It seemed like most of the people we met (ex-pats) had a fantastic lifestyle, shopping, concerts, great social life etc, but we were hard pushed to find anything cultural to do. It seems like a city that has just sprung up recently and that has little past. This may not be the actually true, but it was my impression. However if that doesn't bother you, then Dubai is a fantastic place, water parks, restraunts, ski village!!. Dubai seems to have the biggest and best of everything.

I haven't lived there but I have spent a lot of time there with my job and I love being there. I love the restaurants, the mix of cultures, the shopping, the heat, cheep spas.

I don't like the scary traffic and horrible cab drivers who don't know where they are going.

For Westerners it is great but I can see why people from India, Philipeans and the 3rd world nationals don't like it. They are exploited there in the sense that they are under paid and it is very expensive to live there.
