Following your own truth, as long as it is what you believe in and its the right path. If you walk with society, where is your individuality? Doing what everyone else does, isn't always the right way and if they jump off the bridge, will you follow?!

You have to know when to bend, and when to stand strong. If you have a "truth" that is very different from society, I would look long and carefully at that truth before you follow it to wherever it may take you. Any time you go against the grain, you should be prepared to accept the consequences, there usually are some.

I'd say following your own truth but it will come with a price. As long as you're willing to pay that price and make the necessary sacrifices as regards the other benefits of living in a society are concerned, then you're good to go.
