Right click on megaphone on your task bar. Open Sound Volume Control. Make sure none of those 6 items are checked to mute. And that all volumes are at least halfway up.

click start, programs, accessories, entertainment, volume control. make sure the sliders are not all the way down and make sure the mute is not on.
if you are still having problems, make sure in windows media player the volume isnt turned down.
if still having problems theres a chance you need to re-install the audio driver.

Check the "accessory" in your computer programs and enter "entertainment" and then " volume". From there manipulate the controls to the volume that you desire.

If you are facing this problem for past few days only,
first you can try System restore. than try to uninstall and re-install drivers by going in device manager.
