Rachie is describing an arpeggio - notes of a chord played one after the other.

You can have polychords where 2 chords are combined, e.g. elements of a D major and G major chord.

Sometimes you can play a chord and then change the lowest bass note. I'm not really sure what this is called, but in guitar music you might see a chord diagram or notation allong the lines of G/E - play a G chord with an E bass note. Just to make it confusing, the instruction may be the other way around E/G.

Another thing you can do with a chord is swap the order of notes - this is called an inversion. So instead of C,E,G you play E,G,C.

Not sure if any of these examples constitutes your "split chord" 'cos I've not really come across the term before.

Arpeggios. Like CEG, DFA, EGB, ACE etc. You play each note seperately instead of at the same time.
