the best birth control to take when breastfeeding is Loestrin24Fe. It is only 20mcg and it is what my doctor prescribed to me. Even though ortho trycyclin clears your face it's not good if breastfeeding. Too many micrograms. My doctor knows that I am breastfeeding and I have not had any problems with my milk supply. My baby is 3 1/2 months old.

I don't think so. Because I was on Ortho before I got pregnant. After I had the baby I wanted to go back on it but my dr. said no. The hormone in b/c pills could harm the baby. So they put me on a mini pill. It doesnt work as well but it is supposed to help prevent pregnancy and it is alot better than nothing. Good luck

If it is generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen then no, you shouldn't take it. OTC is combo pill, which means it contains both estrogen and progestin. Breastfeeding moms should avoid pills that contain estrogen. A Progestin-only pill is a better choice for you.

ETA:
DO NOT take Loestrin24Fe - it contains estrogen and can damage your milk supply.

Ortho trycyclin, generic or not, contains estrogen, which decreases milk supply. You should ask your doctor for a progesterone-only pill, also known as a mini-pill. Those are safe for breastfeeding, and won't diminish your milk supply.

If U breast feed the toddler that is your delivery administration. My classes did no longer start up returned up for a whole year after one and all of my toddlers. The greater the toddler nurses the greater desirable the delivery administration. making use of condoms is sweet for prevention. no longer fool information, yet wonderful share of success. talk over with a midwife/nurse/scientific professional approximately your concerns, notwithstanding you will get diverse solutions from each and every physique. i think of it particularly is sensible to area toddlers out. i understand I have been given pregnant many cases on a similar time as nursing my toddlers, yet those pregnancies in no way "took" with the aid of fact my physique grew to become into nursing yet another toddler, and so my physique in no way permit the subsequent one get implanted till i finished nursing. it particularly is not fool information the two, yet it particularly is the way nature meant for issues to artwork. Get a fabulous style of comments and then settle on what to do. One final subject. i'm hoping the toddler's father loves U as much as my husband enjoyed me, and does no longer stress U for intercourse till when you have thoroughly healed up. maximum medical doctors say 8 weeks earlier intercourse returned, yet my hubby waited 3 months, and that i grew to become into grateful with the aid of fact a fabulous style of my interest and capability went for the hot toddler.

You can't start birth control if you are breast feeding until 6 weeks...abd even then it should be a progesterone one only.

Most doctors recommend a mini-pill (progesterone only) b/c the combo pills (estrogen and progesterone) can lower your milk supply greatly!
