How important is it to have an established process when implementing a new technology into an organization?

That depends upon the quality of the "established process", the method of implementation and the type of new technology. An ironclad process, tied to old technology, will be more troublesome than no process at all. A logical process, designed for the new technology, would be better than either.... you can guess the rest.
