What is the difference between the different tags, used in graffiti?

tags are the way a person "signs." it's a person's name. kids who go out bombing and throwing their tags up everywhere are either marking territory or looking for street cred. every graffiti writer has a tag, and each crew (group of graffiti artists) have tags. so sometimes writers will do their tag and then throw up the tag of their crew or other crews they're throwing up around.
