How do you know if you've crossed the above line? What exactly considers you a nymphomaniac? I know the dictionary explanation but is there really such a problem as nymphomania? There is so much more for me to explain but some answers that will be given are bound to be rude and pointless. I'll wait for the right person to answer this question to explain further.

I think you've crossed the line with any kind of disorder when it interferes with the rest of your life and prevents you from functioning normally. For example, the disorder interferes with your getting to work on time, eating healthy, paying bills, marriage/relationships, etc.

There is a psychological disorder called nymphomania. I know a lady whose daughter has it. They give her pills. She has to be watched constantly by a responsible adult. The line is can you control your appetite or does it control you? If you think you have a problem go to a psychologist. They can help. It is a very real serious disease.

According to dictionary.com- Nymphomania is "abnormally excessive and uncontrollable sexual desire in women."
Its normal to want sex but, the urges shouldn't be to that point where sex becomes the only thing you focus on and the most important part of your relationship.
Going overboard would be wanting sex at any and all parts of the day even when it is inappropriate. A normal sexual drive, and even a strong one, can be denied or suppressed when it needs to be.

I think the problem is when you feel like sex is driving you into unsafe situations or making compromises about your own health. There is nothing wrong with having a healthy sexual appetite. You just don't want to lose control. I think you also have to ask what is driving the urge. If it is a pure desire for the pleasure associated with sex then that is okay. If you are using sex to punish yourself for something then that is another.

A nymphomaniac is also known as a sex addict but you probably already know that. You've crossed the line when you put yourself at risk.

I think a healthy sex drives gives you a desire for a particular person or type of person but nymphomania is like a drug addiction it's not the person you desire but the act or the high from the act and the challenge of always wanting or needing more to get that high.If you notice that you put what was important in your life on hold because you are on the search for the next thrill then you have entered the danger zone, seek help but do it with caution you need to find the right therapist or Dr to help you.
