What I've noticed is that every time we conservatives mentioned that George Bush was in office they would say how stupid the public is for voting him in. Now that the libs have taken over congress they aren't saying that. they are saying that is what the people want. They want a change. So if that is true then that is why George bush was elected, we wanted change from libs.
I am definitely worried about where our country is headed. Have you ever seen Nancy Pelosi's voting record? If she is an average lib, then I would hate to see a radical one. The people did vote them in and once they see what they have done, it might be too late. I can foresee many problems in the future. But we still have 2008. We need to show people what these libs are really about and then do something about it. We need to educate our kids, show them the reality so that when they go to college they don't become pot smoking, abortion scraping, tree hugging, anti-Americans!

a million. Republicans have in basic terms controlled Congress from : Jan 2001 to June 2001 Jan 2003 to Jan 2007 Thats 4 a million/2 years out of the final 40 years. Congress bypass's the funds, not the president. in case you look at this administration, the vast deficits have been in 2003 and 2004, brought about with the help of the spending after 9/11. however the defict went down in 2005, 2006 and 2007, it become backpedal to 168 billion in 2007. we've a Democratic congress back, you spot the deficits are back as much as over 1000 billion money this twelve months. 2. specific republicans are against abortions, thats why republican presidents nominate ultimate courtroom judges that are Constitutionalist. 2a. truthfully jointly as Republicans are agaist gay marriage, so are the Democrats. yet what concerns Republicans the main, is activist Judges who some how see a constitutional good for gay marriages. Republicans have faith it would be as much as each State legislature. you have observed, that each state interior the union had rules banning gay marriages , and no state has ever made gay marriage legal. not even the classic Liberal states. In Mass and Maryland, it become the courts, who over governed the guidelines handed with the help of the electorate of those States. The electorate did not have the desire to make gay marriage legal.

You have a severe lack of understanding of politics and economics. There is nothing I can say that will open your eyes, unless you chose to open your mind first. If Bush is fighting a war on terror, where is he fighting it? The war in Iraq isn't fighting against terrorists, or hunting them or even changing the culture of hatred towards the US, it is fueling it instead. The economy is bolstered by the war, but without the war we would be in a deep recession. If you take away war productivity fromn the figures we are in a serious fiscal situation, because of the congressional policies enacted over the last six years. We have the largest deficit in history, ironicaly enough from a surplus handed to Bush from a moderate Democrat President. History does repeat itself, the best economic presidents we have ever had were all on the liberal side of the equasion, and the worst all on the conservitive side.
Learn American history, and some basic economics and you will feel stupid.
Amessage for Ridley, the coward who will not accept e-mails. Bush, has done one of the worst jobs of managing this country in it's history. You may see bad things for the US in the future if "libs" were to stay in power, but fail to elaborate on the how or why. Currently after 12 years of Republican control in congress and 6 with a President on that side we now have a 300 trillion dollar national debt, a larger trade gap, and corperate piracy. So, how is it that any party could do any worse?

"want to raise taxes (which directly coorelates with inflation), go headstrong against the Republicans to gridlock the government"
SO lets think about this, our defosit is at how many trillions of dollars.... ohhh what was that number again.... hmm... 300!?
We are all going to have to foot the bill for that at one point or another. And how do you think that money will will be taken from the american people or where do you think it will come from?
Tons of americans live in debt but that is no way for out nations economy to thrive... our nation and not our people in this instance are basically in debt! That cant be a good thing. Maybe its okay for joe blow to run up his credit card but its a little different for a nation.
Bush increased taxes on the middle class. Obviosly since youre the one whos whining about maybe having to pay more taxes you are in the "upper" income portion of the population that benefitted from the Bush while the rest did not... so when it comes down to it i wouldnt buy your opinion for one penny.
As for gridlock the nations been gridlocked in Iraq for years now!!!
"if you have different views just don't answer." HAHAHAHA! typical.

I give the American people a lot more credit than that. It may have taken them a bit too long to realize what a mistake they made in giving all control to conservatives, but they do realize it, and voted intelligently and knowingly for change.
There is nothing in economics that correlates tax rates with inflation -- you can't make a statement like that without backing it up. For example, Great Britain right now has considerably higher tax rates than the US, but lower inflation...
And because of the free-spending republican congress and president, who provided no way to pay for their spending other than borrowing from foreign governments to the tune of $8 TRILLION dollars, taxes MUST be raised by somebody at some time to pay for that excess. That the Democrats will have the politcal guts to do it and the republicans didn't says a lot about both parties.
Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, the country has been "divided" for many years now -- mostly as a result of the republican lock on congressional power, and their refusal to reach compromises on important matters or consider other points of view. That they've been in power for so long (since 1994) and have done nothing to "fix" social security, or the looming medicare crisis -- and have only run up the national debt whenever and wherever they were able...is sad, disgusting, and one of the big reasons they were just handed a resounding defeat.

Actually, it may be a mixed blessing in disguise! Since this is a mid-term election, the Dems now have 2 years to "walk the walk"! They've certainly whined about the direction we're headed domestically and in the war. Lets see what answers/plan they come up with. When they realize these are tough issues with tough answers needed (and most answers are not easy ones), they may find themselves with nothing better to offer. Come 2008, the people will realize the Dems can't do any better and so the Republicans will look good again!

The terrorist are happy they no the Dem's have no stomach for war, and the Dem's will do everything in their power to appease them, now our political correctness will get us killed, they will use our laws against us, when you look at terrorists web sites, and the ones that say they are moderate Muslims, are liars and change their tune behind closed doors. I watched the documentary on Fox news about so called moderate Muslims, their goal is to take over the white house using our own laws and our political system against us, and the Dem's will fall right in line, they will be able to make those phone calls now and make their plans with no worry of being found out. Our country is in grave danger with the Dem's in power. They are to worried about making sure women can kill more babies and that the gays have a happy life, and making sure every deviant life style in protected.

I'm very worried about this country. And it pains me to see the ignorance expressed on this website, among other places, toward the historic times in which we are living. So many people are so blind, so ignorant. If it continues, we will without a doubt lose this country, and our way of life. Despite what these morons think, America wasn't handed to us; it was FOUGHT FOR. We're facing a time at which we too can FIGHT, or we can sit back in submission and let radical Islam take over the West.

Alex, I agree with you. I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic, but I am definately concerned. I do NOT want my taxes raised - we are middle-class, but not rich by any (sane) standards. We certainly benefitted from the tax cuts and I'm going to be pretty pissed when they go back up.
I am hoping against all sanity that our leaders can put partisan politics aside and focus on running the country, but I'm sure we're in for 2 years of yet more inquiries into 9/11, the war, etc. If the comments I've seen on here are typical of the Democrats mentality, we're screwed.

Hey vertical7... you are sadly mistaken
Yes, war usually does bolster the economy, but not in this modern day world. What production is increasing for this war? None, ok, so how does that help the economy? it doesn't, so, you either must be looking back to WW2 or something.
Also, there are terrorists in Iraq. I don't know how you think there are not, are you there? No, 75% of the military is conservative, so, there is no way your there
