I have to do a peice of work entitled "Is this a good time to be young" and argue my point. At the moment I can only come up with negative points, I'm 16 so I know there HAS to be some good points somewhere, I just can't think of them. Any ideas?

The only way I can answer this is by telling you what life for me at your age was like and you can see a sort of comparison.
1: I could go out late in the evening sit in the park with my mates and not fear being raped, killed or abducted.
2: We had black and white TV you have colour not to mention DVD/video
3: I had to handwrite all my homework you have word processor/printers..
4: I used the local library for research you have the world wide web
5: I had pen pals all over the world and had to wait weeks for a letter to arrive you with the touch of a button can communicate the other side of the world if you want to.
6: I had to save up and buy my music however although you have to do the same with the computor you can have free music.
7:I never had Mp3 or ipod so we could not carry music around with us where ever we went.
8: I had to tell my mom where I was and find a pay phone you lot have mobiles and can keep in touch any time any where.
9: I was lucky to get in to college or unni now you have lots more help and scope also you get paid if you stay on we had to get a job.
10: We never had the pressures of of sex in fact it was sort of tabbo however not a bad thing we did not have the stress or worry.
I can understand why you are bogged down with the negative as it is easy to do each generation comes with its good and bad points. I am glad I grew up when I did but also wished that we had the technology that you do and also the carer options especially if you are a woman. Women can do what they want nowadays and that must be an added bonus for you same pay same opportunities think about it.
Hope that helped.

God things about being 16

1. New horizons ahead, blank page for you to write on.
2. 16, you get to drive now
3. It's easier to make freinds and keep them at 16, you've got all
the time in the world to be social. Jobs and life don't disrupt it much. Most adults will tell you that's what they miss about being 16! Having a car, parents who worry about and pay for everything, and all the time in the world to spend being social.
4. You haven't made any long lasting bad decisions yet that can ruin your life. Time for change.
5. All of your knowledge is fresh still.
6. Your body hasn't betrayed you yet!

Hope that helps, these are the things I remember about 16. I'm now 27 and would never go back but those were the good points.

Imagine being old, being able to change things because people take you seriousely but not having the drift anymore because you fought so many times for lost causes, and now, you have something to loose... Your children, your home, you are swallowed by the system...
It's always a good time to be young. Don't look at what might have been if you were born before. Look at the elder. They had it hard aswell. Maybe not the way you feel right now but youth is a fight and every step brings you new discoveries. Yes... It is always a good time to be young...

Good Luck.

No, it's not. Do you watch the news. The world is pretty bad right now. Also Education is going down hill too. Teachers just aren't allowed to teach the way they used to be able to teach. Therefore, the kids aren't learning what they need to know. Also, Parenting is a word of the past. The essentials that parents used to teach their kids at home before school, they don't teach them anymore. Therefore, when they get to school, instead of being able to teach the kids the things they need to know, teachers are teaching them how to brush their teeth and manors. If you really think about Kids your age and younger are our future and personally I'm scared. We are supose to teach them so that they can teach others. That's the way it's supose to work. So , no I don't think it's a good time to be young. It's pretty scary out there. I hope that I've helped you.

There are some very positive points to being young now. Look at all you have available to you. Cell phones, internet... Not to mention the outlook on teenagers has changed some. The outlook on teen pregnancy has changed to less negative, more supportive. You know more about your bodies, how they work, and the world around you than the generations before you.

you get more tecnological advances in a year than other generations had in a decade

there's access to a wider world, you can see pictures of far off places, taste exotic foods, chat with friends in other countries with ease

the world is so unstable and changing not that it may feel scary, but really it just allows for endless unseen possibilities

the best way to really answer this is to compare it to other generations. every generation in the past will say the 60s were better and the 70s were better but are they really? or is it like how we now say the 90s were better because it we feel nostolgic over pogs and oregon trail?

I'm in my 40s. Let me give it a shot.

When I was young we worried about the Soviets and the US launching thousands of nuclear missiles at each other. Some of my older friends worried about polio. There was racial discrimination.

Now we have the internet and many scientific advances. People are living longer.

I'd say it's always good to be young, because you have a lot of time to improve the world!

no, it'll be better to be young in the future, when you can holiday on the moon, send a text message using a chip your head, Microsoft will have invented a bug free operating system, the second coming will have come and gone, you can bend spoons with your mind, Dr Pepper is free and the week has been extended by 1 day to incorporate an extra long weekend; Saturday, Sunday1 & Sunday2

Vote me for PM and i'll gurantee it ;¬)

the only good thing about being young is not having to do anything at all but listen to your nagging parents..and usually when you get into trouble your parents take the blame..I'm younger than you so i know how this feels to get into trouble with friends, family, and just plain old strangers..mostly COPS! i live in a house that constantly getting into trouble..so basically life being young is probably WAY better than having to stick up for yourself all the time..

Being young is when you reach the age that you're happy with yourself. When it doesn't matter to you what people think of you, you're happy with your weight, looks and outlook. When you can comfortably have an opion and state it no matter what everyone elses is.
Being young is when you feel free. This happened to me when I reached my early thirties and IT'S GREAT
