Should I put an egg crate over it? I guess that might defeat the purpose of having the feather bed in the first place, ya know? Any advice would be great. Thank you!! :)

An egg crate might be too much over the feather bed, but try one of those fitted mattress pads - looks like a padded sheet, that might provide just enough protection from the pokes - I hate that too!

Yes - when I was a kid, my babysitter lived in a cabin on the Prince William Sound in Valdez, AK. You could only hike to the cabin (couldn't drive) and all the beds were feather beds! No electricity - has a stand alone cast iron oven in middle of kitchecn and plenty of sea otters to play with out front! The feather beds were SO nice! :-) Ah, childhood memories!

I have a feather bed too, the best thing I found is flannel sheets, they are thick and keep the feathers from poking you.

You can put a thicker sheet between the matress and you. that should disperse the pressure from the feather tips. (it's the white thing that has a 6in elastic band that goes under the sheets but on the mattress, i can't think of the name)

Buy one of those matress protecters, you'll still get to enjoy the luxury of a feather bed, but without the itchy sticky out bits poking you !

Put a thick cotton blanket on top of the mattress, under the sheets. The shape and softness will be the same. but no poking.

I had this problem and I just ended up getting rid of the feather pillow topper but you could trip a thick sheet.

a cushiony mattress cover, an electric blanket pad, or just go crazy and buy a new mattress! (Have a feather party with your old mattress!)
