My boyfriend was the same height as you at 16, and now he's around 5 foot 8 or 9 (aged 22). And his parents are shorter than yours as well, so you might even end up taller.
He never had a growth spurt; he just got gradually taller, an inch or two each year until he reached his full height.
Take up a sport where height isn't an issue, like soccer, golf or martial arts - lower centre of gravity = better. Martial arts would be great, because you would develop confidence in yourself physically. If someone commented on your height, at least you would have the satisfaction of knowing you could kick their butt.
My guess is you're girlfriend is only worried because you are. Most short guy's fantasy is to have a girlfriend taller than they are. Enjoy it while it lasts, because you might end up taller than her in a while.

Well, words or opinions get no sense on these cases, but i only can say that such situation will go on until you and your mates will become riper than now. Height as other appearances have a minor role and you all are aware of that though your eyes and your mind look and think of those characteristics at first.
Sharing this Yahoo spaces from long, I can summarize that the main worries for guys are the penis and the body length!
After the adolescence, for both (penis and height) there is nothing to do.
You realize that it's priorly a genetic factor while the hormone of the growth only helps during the infancy. Sports, the same can be useful during the development AND since yours probably still is working, try with some specific sport. That's all you can do now. At last, any thing is relative and you could be a normal guys in Europe or a tall person in Asia!

Hi Tom. Stop worrying about this...it's not a problem even if you never get any taller! Men grow until they are 21 years old (women, 18 years old) so, it might be you'll add another inch or more in the next 5 years. People who make comments about your height are very narrowminded, not to mention stupid. I'm 5'7" and my husband is 5'4" like you. He NEVER is intimidated by anyone taller. When he was young, he could kick as*s bigtime and no one fooled with him. He took boxing lessons. He was also a killer on the dance floor, and still is!! That would be ballroom lessons; he was a regular on a TV show like American Bandstand in New Orleans for years! The girls loved him and still do. He looks 20 years younger than anyone else his age and he's just a fabulous guy who has self confidence. If you will conpensate for your self-judged short comings with some sort of self-defense class and insure your position with the ladies with the same self-confidence, mastering dancing, a handsome smile and good manners, you will have NEVER feel hurt about those comments, I promise you. At your age, things just seem to be unfair sometimes, but all teenagers go through that. Find "yourself" in all of this and excell at what will make you an outstanding Tom....!!! Tell your girlfriend to remember, big gifts come in small packages. Oh...my Baby still wears heeled dress boots and I always wear heels! Godloveya, Tom-cat....!!!

What is 5"12" - 6 foot? Well, did anyone in your family have a late growth spurt? When I started 10th grade I was 5'0" and by the end of the school year I was 5'8". After that I grew 3 more inches over the next couple years.
Have you had an x-ray to determine if you have any grow plates remaining? You should see your physician and determine the best course to take.

Don't worry about height. You have some years to grow. Some gain height well into their twenties.
But even if you were to stop growing at this point, don't worry. You are not short. When you look at the people around the world, you are not short at all.

Sweetie, at 16 everyone has issues about something. For me, it was the exact opposite. I hated being so tall.
The truth is, if you do not grow, you may always be conscious about it a little. BUT eventually, you will come to accept it more. Height is one of the hardest things to change. Though some people go to drastic measures (insert metal into there legs and slowly stretch and break the bones, then reheal them longer), most people just eventually find a way to come to terms with it.

Awww...how sad - NOT...just deal with it ok?! Maybe the real problem here is that you don't have any confidence in yourself. Maybe if you act more confident about yourself your friends and girlfriend will notice the good things about you...you're not gonna accomplish anything by moping around. So get up and go get em, tiger!!!
P.S. I think short guys are cute too...

it's not the size,it's what you can do ! !
Spud Webb was just over 5'6" and played for the NBA.
If you girl is bothered by your height, move on and find one that likes you for you !
Change what you can and be happy with what you can't change !
