i live in b.c. canada, i am going through a divorce, my husband (not a canadian residence) left the country and everything behind - credit cards; bank accounts -- all of which are in arrears. he claims he has no assets and no money, he has a company but he states it's his brothers and he is just an employee (a lie but i don't know how to prove this). now he is going after all my assets. i already have a lawyer but how can i uncover his wealth that he has hidden to show this to my lawyer and the judge that he is purposely lying

Heath has got it. A good forensic accountant should be able track down your husbands assets and prove that he is an owner of the business. It's expensive though

he has to provide this proof to his lawyer... if there is some question of lieing and your lawyer doesn't know how to handle it, then you need to find another lawyer. I don't think it's up to you to find his hidden assets.

Contact a local investment company, such as Edward Jones. There isn't a charge for consultation. If they don't know the answer, at least they can point you in the right direction.

If your husband was a U.S. citizen, and you believe he has assets located in the U.S., our firm can assist your attorney with his/her financial investigation in the U.S. The cost will be less than a forensic accountant. Sorry, we are limited to U.S. and cannot assist in Canadian or international investigations. Good Luck.
