Have you ever noticed that? I remember doing it as a child and now that I think about it, it doesn't make any sense. Are children taught to do this or do they see it on tv or is it just something that has to do with child development?

It might be that that is where we usually see the sun, unless it is setting or rising, in the corner of our vision. We don't want to look directly at it, But we know it is there. Kids want to show that it is a sunny day, but you never should look directly at the sun, so it goes in the corner.

I think it has something to do with our capacity to feel happiness and joy..it is not the darkness we fear but the light, we are capable of feeling such immense joy and happiness but sometimes we are scared. Maybe always knowing the potential we have, but we often feel ashamed to own it, to let it become us. Its something we want to bring to the center. I agree it does represent happiness, so settin the tone for what they would like to unfold in that scene, it's happiness all around, the scene is set perfectly now what to fill it with. That's the empty space in the middle of the page, it's ipen because that's what needs to be filled, a good day playing with a friend, blowing bubbles, whatever makes them happy. I always left mine blank as well. A sun in the corner, the beautiful green grass at the bottom to run on to stand on, the foundation is there, the sky, endless possibilities.

I believe that kids do this because they see that the sun is in the corner of their eyes, or that they see that other kids draw the sun like that so they think its the right way.

I did the same thing, and I think I did it because circles were always hard to draw correctly.( in the sense that they look good) So using the corner made it easier

I drew suns wherever ...they were just easier to draw in corners. I remember my babysitters kid showing me when I was about 3 how to draw one....so it could just be how we are taught what we see other kids doing....and since we remember it that way we tend to teach it that way.
