I don't know what is wrong, but I can tell you this: since you have an irregular period and a sex life, you must: a. be extra careful and use a condom, because you don't know what days are more dangerous. b. be checked by a Ob-gyn doctor regularly and have hormone tests and ultrasound test to see if there is anything wrong, c. don't worry too much, my mum had the same problem and it stopped after she stopped worrying and she had me-but you need to check for any possible problem.

Personally, I think it has to do with stopping your birth control pills, because it can affect your menstrual cycle. My friend had no periods for almost a year after stopping birth control pills.
But, just to be safe I would check with a doctor, and always have your routine pap smears, physicals, etc.
Good luck!

Go to your doctor they might recommend a blood test to rule out pregnancy as well as a ultrasound to check for cyst.

Sometimes those contraceptives make your period irregular, so that maybe the cause of your irregular period. If you're not stressed out then that maybe the problem.

You need to share this with your gynecologist and have them do a blood test to test your hormone levels. It sounds like either your estrogen or progesterone is off. It wouldn't hurt to have your thyroid tested either.
