an inferno match is one where a wrestler wins when he sets his opponent on fire.
the first ever inferno match was held between 'the undertaker' and his kayfabe brother, 'kane'. the match was won by the undertaker after he set kane's hand on fire.

If you are talking about WWE then it was Taker Vs Kane back in april of 1998 & Taker won that match. If you are tlaking about the frst one ever then it would be in Puerto rico where Carlos Colon beat Hercules Ayala in August of 1988 in the WWC promotion.
