or to watch alot of T.V., and play video games ?

This is not a question of morals, what is sin and what is not.

It is perfectly alright to watch T.V. and to play video games.

But simply what I more of a benefit to the individual doing such ?

All, and many opinions or facts are much appreciated.

I'll put in the form of an analogy.

Reading books would be like finding and eating the finest most nutritious foods, building a healthy body (mind). Watching TV would be like eating fast food everyday. It will rot your mind, if that's all you do.

Its more beneficial to read than to stare at a screen. Of course it depends on what you are reading, watching, or playing. Overall though, the television and video game industry are not morally all that conscience. TV vilifies sex, promotes violence, and discourages human emotion.

On the other hand, KKK members write books too. It's up to the content to answer this question. It's better to be selective and try to find the more intelligent forms of media than to just go with any old crap. I personally leave my TV off most of the time and my books open. Peace, good question!

I believe each medium has its own merits, it just depends on what you aim to achieve.

For example, it would probably be better to learn to drive by using a video game than to just read about it.

But if you want to learn about a subject like Greek Mythology, the best source is the public library and a stack of books.

Television can be beneficial for demonstrative purposes, "Jackass" being a prime example.

You retain more from reading books and the amount of knowledge you gain is amazing. Even fiction books have parts of the story based on fact so all books can be beneficial.

I love books!!
I also love TV!
I love computer time!

Take everything in moderation, spend the most time doing what you feel is helping you grow and learn the most.
