No, Ethiopia is an invention of the 20th Century, having been known as Abyssinia until the West sold Haille Selassie down the river, and allowed the fascist Italian government to usurp him. Before that, it was originally known as Nubia from which we take the term nubile.
It is not known for sure where the first Homo Sapiens ocurred, although it would have been around the NE of Africa, or the Middle East.

I don't know about Ethiopian but there is a well known theory called 'Out of Africa' which does indeed specify that the first modern men were born and lived in Africa- this is where some of the oldest men lived, and also I believe the climate there at the time was one of the best and most temperate for a race with little body hair to keep them warm, and that all men are descended from these first people. I believe that this was also backed up by DNA tests- women pass an identical part of DNA to their daughters, which somehow enabled them to work out that the oldest type of this DNA comes from a family in Africa.

I suppose that would depend on whether a person is religious or not. Christians believe from the bible that the first man was Adam and it has been documented that the Garden of Eden was in Eastern Turkey so here Adam would obviously not be Ethiopian.
Can you post a factual link on first man being Ethiopian, don't know anything about it so cannot give an opinion!!!
But that would be if the bible was actually the truth??!!!

in the areas we now call Kenya and Ethiopia, yes, that is what most scientists believe.

The things that religious people believe are many and varied, and can be dismissed as the ravings of ignorant dogma.....
There is at least one *major*, worldwide sect of christianity which believes that we all came from 2 parents - Adam and Eve - who lived along the east bank of the Grand River in Daviess County, Missouri, USA :-)
it's true - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam-ondi-Ahman

i don't know, thats an interesting thought. It is well known that the first man was not white. He lived probably somewhere in eastern africa or the middle east. That's where Jesus is from too, those pictures of him are so biased, they don't show him how he most likely looked.
