I was forced to protect myself from a parent that entered the school looking for a fight. The parent hit me in my face and the fight was on. I am a fighter so for a minute I forgot that I was a Officer and kicked that parents butt. Now the principle won't let me work in her building anymore. So my question is what would you do if it happen to you? Would you have dealt with it differently or would you have done what I done?

As a certified Dept of Defense Industrial Security Administrator and with much experience in plant protection and college campus security I have a great deal of training and certainly would handle it differently. Despite the natural instinct to kick *** you must do your duty--that which you were hired to do. Were you hired to beat people up? It is difficult to not go there if you are a skilled fighter plus the fact you were attacked however security guards observe and document. Even the secret service protecting the President of The United States does not beat people up and yet they are very effective. You need to understand that you were not wrong for how you felt but you did not do your job. You need training. At least you show that you care by asking the question, I hope there is someone qualified to help you. Security work is a legitimate and skilled profession unfortunately there is money to be made by putting a body in a location and they do not always give you the tools to perform but will simply switch bodies when there is a problem. Best wishes to you.

It is hard to say how anyone would act given the adrenalin rush you must have experienced. Although I don't blame you for your actions I believe that had you stopped kicking butt and just restrained them your principal would be more on your side. Many of the parents might believe after your actions when the heat was up that you might "go off" on students as well. I do think that you should pursue charges against the parent who initiated the fight to help clear your name. I'm sorry this happened to you but maybe it is really an opportunity to make a career change. You know if one door closes another will open.
Honestly though I think that if this happened to me I would have fought back as well. It is understandable and I wish you the best of luck.

People wonder why kids are like they are these days. This is just another episode that i have herd of.If parents don't respect authority the kid won't. I myself would have stayed a little calmer. But probably would have done the same thing.

In this country you are guilty until proven innocent. It's a shame, when you do your job, you get in trouble. People in charge of hiring prefer people that don't do their jobs. That way they can't be sued for anything.

i would sue the parent for ruining your career . This is one of those situations were you are screwed no matter what . Regardless if it is your fault I can see how the principal doesn't want you there
