Christians want to wear white poppies instead of red ones as it is "more Christian." However, Remembrance Sunday and the silence on the 11/11 at 11 o clock - the reason we wear the poppies in the first place is about the people who died in WW1 (RIP). So why should we have white ones when Christanity hasn't got anything to do with it?

What the hell has religion got to do with this? Chritianity has absolutely nothing to do with rememberence day. Jews, christians, muslims, sikhs and almost every other religion sacrificed their young men and women in various wars and conflicts. Why does everything we do have to be hijacked by religous obsessives trying to point score over other denominations? I'm in the army and a white poppy is completely disrespectful to those that lost their lives. I knew a muslim soldier who died in Afghan this year, are white poppy wearers ignoring him?

The text read about a think tank but it does not speak for the Christians as a whole. Because an idiot (sorry find no other word for it), likes to wear white poppies, we don't have to do this as a Christian. Let him put on his white poppie than we know who that crazy person is.
Never seen white poppies in Flanders (or other) fields.

Just like most Christian ideas, that is rediculous!!! We wear the poppy in memory of the fallen soldiers. The holiday is called "Remembrance Day", not Peace Day!! There are definately not white poppies in Flanders Fields and there is nothing wrong with the red poppy, so why mess with it?

The white poppy has been produced in the UK since 1933. It is a pacifist alternative to the red poppy. So the debate has nothing to do with religion, but plenty to do with attitude to war.

I wear a white poppy, because I wish to commemorate all people who have died as a result of war, including non-combatants. In the first world war 5% of the fatalities were of civilians. In the second world war this figure was 66%. And in modern military conflicts the figure is 80-90%.

I'm a christian and I don't want red poppies. That would defeat the whole object.

Christians are losing the plot.
The red poppy is symbolic and accepted as a token of rememberence and respect.
no amount of pressure from the PC brigade is going to make me accept white poppies gatecrashing our services.
If they must have them, let them be for an international day of peace.
