I have a female relative who is 5'5 and thinks my main man is short because he is 5'9. I am 4'11 and he is perfect height for me. For Asians a man who is 5'9 is tall isn't it? But for white men is 5'9 short? He is only 3 inches away from 6 feet. So he can't be short is he?

The height you quoted is average for a man. That female relative who said otherwise does not know what she is talking about.

Overall, 5'8" or 5'9" is about average for men. If he's perfect for you, why worry about what your relative thinks? She's not the one that the guy is paying attention to!

5'9" is indeed the average height for a man in the USA.
Incidentally I am (Female) 6'1" and my husband is 5'7" so don't worry about height anyway.

I am 5'10" myself, but I have a lot of guy friends that are 5'7"-5'9" and of course taller too. I don't think that is average but to me of course it is a little on the short side. Who cares what anyone thinks...it is your life!
