but I wanted to purchase a home in south carolina, is it easier to purchase a house in south carolina, than here in dc?
well the houses I was looking at range from 40,000 - 70,000.
credit is not great like 560, married with combined income of $55,000. what are my chances of getting financing? and will I have a really high interest rate?

I live in Virginia maybe you should move there they have cheap houses out here in nice neighborhoods.My family uses this website also www.realtystore.com they have nice houses.

I know nothing about the credit score part of the question, but you have more than enough income to afford a house in that range. And yes, it is much easier to find a home in South Carolina than DC. I would search the town you are looking for on Realtor.com. If you see something you like you could write to the realtor and ask them if they know a good mortgage person who can help you get past the credit issue.

You are not alone. This is a common profile and one that their are solutions for. The first thing I would do is start gaining an understanding of what can improve the credit scores the fastest. The higher the score...the lower the rate..period.
