There are many possibilities that of why this could happen, maybe if you were more specific and told us exactly when it happened we could help you more. Some problems could be if you open to many programs at once you dont have enough RAM. It could be a virus if it happens every time you open a certain program, that could mean you have a virus. It could also be that your computer does not have a big enough hard drive and you have to much on it so it freezes. I hope this helps :)

I might have some bad news for you. This happened right before my previous motherboard went... Better start making preperations...

This could also happen because your graphics card is overheating; Your system is overheating; Your system is underpowered; You power-supply is faulty; or your motherboard is on the brink of death.

The good answer could be that your graphics card's drivers are corrupted... but that's not likely...
